The Helicopter Instrument Rating Course is a major asset to your license. Instrument training will give you the knowledge and skills to safely fly in the IMC (Instrument Meteorological Conditions) procedural environment, it will also improve your capabilities simply by making you a better pilot. Most employers require pilots to have an instrument rated flight certificate, additionally, some insurance companies give premium discounts for having an instrument rating and some companies will not insure you without it, making this course fundamental to your aviation needs.
Requirements:
- Hold a Rotorcraft Helicopter Private or Commercial Pilot Certificate
- Be able to Read, Speak, Write, and Understand the English language
- Possess at least a Third Class Medical Certificate
- Transportation Safety Administration Clearance
Training Breakdown: As per Part 61 of the Federal Aviation Regulations the requirements are:
- 50 Hours of cross country Pilot In Command
- 40 Hours of Insrument Flight Training

Considering weather and other unforeseen factors, a Full-Time student should complete the course in 1 - 2 months.
